Part Day Trip

Difficulty level: novice

3 miles (1-3 hours)

$33/person kayaking, canoeing & rafting

No group rates available for this trip.

For those who don’t have the time for our longer excursions.

Suitable for beginning or novice canoeists and includes “Rock Island” and several other stopping areas suitable for groups or small parties.

There can be good fishing in this area but we recommend the 9 mile trip for the serious angler.

Excellent swimming and picnicking opportunities and the scenery is AAA!

One Day Trip

Difficulty level: novice

9 miles (3 to 7 hours)

$44/person kayaking, canoeing & rafting

$42/person group rate (25 or more)

This run is suited for the beginning canoeist or novice.

The first section of 3 miles is basic flatwater, the second 3 miles includes several class 2 rapids and many islands, and the last section includes moderate moving water and “Rock Island”.

This is our best fishing trip which meanders through scenic rural countryside and contains outstanding fishing structure.

There are numerous islands suitable for lunchtime activities or just for taking a stretch and a break from canoeing or rafting.

Excellent swimming and  bird and wildlife watching opportunities.

Overnight

Difficulty level: experienced

21.5 total miles (Day 1: 12.5 miles)

$85/person canoe or kayak

$83 person group rate (25 or more)

Overnight tripping is quite popular and requires more planning than the usual day run.

We depart from James River Runners promptly at 8AM and proceed upstream to Wingina.

The first day’s run is 12.5 miles, is novice in nature, and ends at Howardsville where rental clients have the luxury of camping on our private riverside property.

Camping at this area is primitive although we do maintain the area, have several fire rings and picnic tables, and have a clean porta potty available for your use (no potable water).

The second day you may float back to our base location at your leisure (9 miles).

All camping reservations must be called in and cannot be done on line.
