Directions to James River Runners, Inc.

Please drive safely on the country roads leading to our base camp and be aware of farm vehicles and other oncoming traffic. Be responsible. Do NOT drink alcohol and drive.
Please use the directions included below to get ot our location here at Hatton Ferry in Albemarle County.
Do NOT use MapQuest nor GPS in your vehicles as you will end up on the opposite (wrong) side of the river from our location!

From all points East, North, and West of Charlottesville:

Coming from DC and points north take I-66 West to 29 South, then make sure to take the 29 South - 250 West bypass in Charlottesville to I-64 (about 3 miles). Take I-64 east to the second exit which is exit #121. Follow directions from Charlottesville just below:

From points east (Richmond,Tidewater areas - take I64 West) and west of Charlottesville (Waynesboro,Staunton - take I64 East) proceed to exit #121 on I-64 (Scottsville/Charlottesville exit). Take Route 20 South for 17.5 miles, TURN RIGHT onto Route 726 (James River Road). Start following the BROWN HATTON FERRY SIGNS leading to Hatton's Ferry. Go straight through the first stop sign. At the second stop sign turn RIGHT and remain on Route 726 for 3 miles. At the "T" intersection turn LEFT onto Route 625 Hatton Ferry Road go 2 miles and you are here!

If you are coming from South of Scottsville or from Wintergreen Resort:

1. Wintergreen: Follow Rt. 151 North to Rt. 6 East to 29 North. Take left on 29 North and go 4 miles to Rt. 6 East. Follow Rt. 6 East to Scottsville. Upon reaching Scottsville, take right on Rt. 726 just across from small shopping center. Go to stop sign, take right on Rt. 726 (yes, same route number) and go 3 miles. Then take left onto Rt. 625 for 2 miles to Hatton Ferry.

2. Buckingham, Farmville etc.: Take Rt. 20 North to Scottsville. Proceed past Rt. 6 east and go THROUGH Scottsville to Rt. 6 WEST (about 1/2 mile). Go to top of hill and take left onto Rt. 726 and follow map above.

3. Lynchburg, etc.: Follow 29 North to Rt. 6 East (follow directions from Wintergreen).

Approximate Travel Times
30 minutes from I-64 in Charlottesville.
3 hours from the Washington, DC and Tidewater (Va Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport News, and Hampton) Metro areas. Allow extra time for traffic and rest stops!!
1 1/2 hours from Richmond and 23 miles south of Charlottesville, Virginia. Note that we are 5 miles WEST of Scottsville at Historic Hatton Ferry.
